 Fluoride

Fluoride is naturally found in soil, water and foods and is also industrially produced to be used in drinking water, toothpaste, mouth washing and various chemical products.

Cases requiring vitamin/metal addition

Adding chloride may also help solve the following health problems:

It is customary to add fluoride to drinking water in many areas, and therefore water is the primary source of this mineral. Even the water to which fluoride is not added contains a small amount of it, as the food and beverages produced in the areas of fluoride addition to its waters also contain fluoride.

Additives can be given to children as follows:

1. Fluoride concentration in water less than 0.3 million (pm)

When the fluoride concentration is less than 0.3 million, the recommended daily dose:
  • 0.25 micrograms from birth to 2 years of age.
  • 0.5 ug 2 - 4 years old.
  • 1 microgram above the age of 4 years.

2. Fluoride concentration between 0.3 - 0.7 million

Fluoride is not recommended for children under 2 years of age, while a dose is recommended as follows:
  • 0.25 micrograms for children aged 2 - 4 years.
  • 0.5 micrograms for children over 4 years of age.
